The Outaouais Social Forum

The first World Social Forum took place in Brazil, in 2001, as an alternative to neo-liberal globalization. The movement has grown rapidly, and social forums have now taken place all over the world.

A social forum is an open space; a celebration of diversity; an occasion for learning, sharing and exploring possibilities; a democratic and non-hierarchical gathering for all those who dream of a better world and who want to work together to build a society based on social justice, democracy and solidarity.

The Outaouais Social Forum (OSF) will consist of workshops, a celebratory march, conferences, round tables, vendor stands, music, artistic performances, exhibits, etc. There will be something for everyone!

Like all social forums, the OSF will essentially be a self-organized event. All individuals and organizations who wish to present an activity at the OSF are encouraged to do so, as long as it complies with the Forum’s guiding principles.

If you want to organize an activity (round table, workshop, performance, etc.), set up an information table or sell fair-trade or eco-friendly products at the OSF, please contact us at fsqoutaouais@yahoo.ca.

To learn more about the OSF or social forums in general, or to find out when the next planning meeting will be (everyone is welcome to attend), visit the FSO blog at: http://www.forumsocialoutaouais.blogspot.com/.
